The Beauty Of The Netherlands

Beautiful places to visit in The Netherlands

Experience The True Beauty Of The Netherlands

It’s no surprise that the Netherlands is known as a land of wonderful canals, given its location in Northwestern Europe and the fact that much of its territory is below sea level. But that’s just one of the country’s many enticements.

There are also picturesque windmills, bright flower fields, idyllic towns, and lively neighborhoods rich in art, culture, and history strewn across the landscape.

From adorable cheese markets to beautiful parks to ever seductive Amsterdam, here are some of the best places to visit in the Netherlands which I call The Beauty Of The Netherlands!

Amsterdam

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ largest and most attractive city, with a picturesque network of canals spanning the Amstel River in the province of North Holland. It welcomes visitors with fabulous museums, exciting nightlife, and a decidedly unique café scene. It is vibrant, cosmopolitan, and steeped in culture.

Don’t miss the illustrious Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, or Anne Frank House for a full experience in the Dutch capital. Make sure to include long walks around Grachtengordel – the city’s central area, which is home to the city’s major canals, bridges, and quaint 17th-century canal houses – as well as a visit to the controversial Red Light District.

Keukenhof Gardens

Keukenhof Gardens

The Keukenhof Gardens, also known as “The Garden of Europe,” is the world’s second-largest flower garden, after Dubai Miracle Garden, and a must-see for anyone visiting the Netherlands. Keukenhof, situated in the Bulb area between Amsterdam and The Hague, is a spectacular display of colors and scents each autumn, with over seven million bulbs planted.

Visitors can attend numerous flower shows, markets, and parades held here during the year; take a memorable flight, bike tour, or boat ride from around bulb fields; or have lunch in one of the onsite restaurants, in addition to admiring the beautiful floral landscape.

Rotterdam

Rotterdam

Rotterdam, Amsterdam’s main competitor, is the Netherlands’ second-largest city and home to one of the world’s biggest and busiest ports. The city, which is located in the province of South Holland in the Western Netherlands, is known for its beautiful waterside setting, cutting-edge architecture, and high commercial significance.

Nonetheless, Rotterdam’s vibrant nightlife, packed cultural calendar, and youthful university vibe make it one of Europe’s most dynamic and livable cities.

There are a number of sayings that represent the constant competition between the Netherlands’ most prestigious cities, but this is probably the most well-known: “Amsterdam has it, but Rotterdam doesn’t require it,” says the author.

Delft

Delft

Delft is a beautiful typical Dutch city situated between Rotterdam and The Hague in the province of South Holland.

Delft is bursting with things to see and do, from lovely bars and cafés to quaint churches, interesting museums, and beautiful historical buildings lining pretty canals and wonderful parks. Delft is world-famous for its blue and white pottery (Delftware) and for being the hometown of Vermeer – the painter who gave birth to the Girl With a Pearl Earring.

Delft’s true allure is found in its laid-back atmosphere, which, when combined with its beautifully preserved medieval old town and idyllic canals, makes for an unforgettable romantic getaway.

Maastricht

Maastricht

Maastricht is the capital of the Limburg province and is located in the southeast of the Netherlands, close to Belgium and Germany.

This attractive multicultural city, which was once a Roman village, has perfected the art of merging the old with the new. Expect a storybook medieval old town with quaint plazas and romantic cobblestone streets lined with restaurants and cafés, as well as rich culture and history, leafy parks, interesting museums, and a storybook medieval old town with leafy parks, interesting museums, and a storybook medieval old town of quaint plazas and romantic cobblestone streets lined with restaurants and cafés.

The Hague

The Hague

The Hague, is the third largest and most important city in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

This cosmopolitan metropolis in the country’s west entices tourists with its superb architecture, wonderful squares, and fine art museums, as well as its golden beaches, posh neighborhoods, gleaming skyscrapers, and great shopping.

Alkmaar Cheese Market

Alkmaar Cheese Market

This cheese market, held each year in Alkmaar’s Waagplein square, is one of the best places to visit in the Netherlands. It’s no surprise that the market has become a notable tradition in the region and a visible part of Dutch society, given its long history dating back to 1593.

The Alkmaar cheese market season usually begins on the first Friday in April and ends on the first Friday in September. Every Friday from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., there will be fares, spectacles, and marches.

Waddenzee

Waddenzee

Waddenzee is the most unusual and important nature reserve in the Netherlands, as well as one of the world’s largest wetlands habitats, with millions of migratory birds, all varieties of fish, and seal colonies.

This one-of-a-kind natural habitat, located on the Dutch coast in the province of Groningen, covers nearly 2,500 square kilometers and retains its wetland appearance twice a day while becoming one with the sea twice a day.
